Multinational evaluation of genetic diversity indicators for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
A multinational evaluation of genetic diversity indicators in nine countries on five continents. The findings show low values of Headline Indicator A.4, indicating genetic erosion, but more positive signs for a complementary indicator, Populations Maintained. The findings are used to assess gaps, needs and opportunities for genetic indicators.

Leveraging Earth Observation for monitoring and preserving genetic diversity.
A new tool has been developed and is in a pilot phase. This tool is being tested as a rapid and affordable way to accelerate reporting on A.4 for some species. The tool is being tested with case studies for determining when it will be useful for Parties. The goal is for this tool to be ready for use for 2029 Reporting.

How much monitoring is needed to reliably track progress towards genetic diversity targets?
This study provides guidance to Parties on how many species and populations need to be monitored to reliably report Headline Indicator A.4. The recommendations are feasible for many countries, using available data, and are robust to anticipated errors in data.
